De Smederij

De Smederij is the goldsmith's workshop of Sjoerie Lont, who graduated from the Schoonhoven Vocational School in 1982 and works independently as a goldsmith.
De Smederij is a workshop that designs, produces, and sells jewelry components and small utensils. The work is unique and produced in small series. Sjoerie frequently works on commission, making the work diverse yet distinctive, with a high level of technical and quality, and an eye for personal preferences. Old jewelry, whether broken or not, is also lovingly restored into valuable pieces that can be worn again. Restoration is a continuation of this. Whether it's jewelry or small silver items, De Smederij offers sound advice, free quotes, and repeat restorations.
There is a beautiful collection of gemstones to choose from, collected over the years from all corners of the world. De Smederij also strives to promote Fairtrade gold and silver. While the selection is still smaller, the first steps toward sustainable mining of precious metals have been taken. The gold is more expensive: the miners earn a fair wage, and no harmful substances are used. De Smederij is now registered as a supplier of Fairtrade gold with Max Havelaar's Goldsmiths Registration Scheme.
