In 2017, Eline van der Laag organized the first edition of the Jewelry Route through Amsterdam's city center. The goal was to showcase the craftsmanship and creativity of silversmiths. Now, a few years later, some locations have been relocated to studios that can only be visited by appointment. Therefore, the route can now be experienced both in person and online via this website.
The Jewelry Route is for anyone with a passion for jewelry, an eye for craftsmanship, and an appreciation for individuality. The participating goldsmiths prioritize craftsmanship. Their designs are "Dutch Design" and "Made in Holland." Almost all jewelry is unique, handmade from gold, platinum, silver, or stainless steel, and set with genuine gemstones or pearls. The collections on display range from ultramodern to semi-classic. This route allows you to explore a wide spectrum of styles, making it easy to make informed choices when purchasing items like wedding rings or a birth gift. Most goldsmiths also offer the option of having a custom-designed piece of jewelry made.
The WALKING route takes you right through Amsterdam's historic city center to goldsmiths located along the canals, in the Jordaan district, the Nine Streets, and near the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). The route can be started at any participant's location via Google Maps. The eight-kilometer route is easily accessible on foot or by bike. Most goldsmiths are open from Thursday to Saturday. Check the website of the goldsmith you wish to visit for current opening hours.
The ONLINE route you will discover the websites of the gold and silversmiths in Amsterdam, but you can only visit them by appointment.
